Welcome to Defend Trade Unions website
We are a London-based group determined to play our part in the unfolding crisis of capitalism. We came together in the on-going struggle for justice for the 24 Shrewsbury pickets who were the victims of a 1972 Tory-inspired conspiracy as a pretext for the anti-union laws which New Labour allowed to stay on the statute books and criminalise effective trade unionism.
Then we became active in the anti-blacklisting campaign, fighting to reveal the illegal practices of unscrupulous employers against trade unionists who campaigned for wages and working conditions.
And we have always supported the Construction Safety Campaign, fighting to make senior executives of major corporations accountable for the deaths and injuries of their workforce.
Supporters of our campaigns include:-
UCATT – Jerry Swain (London Reg. Secretary), Tom Lannon (ex – London Reg. Council Chairman), John Gould (ex – official).
UNITE – Len McCluskey (General Secretary), Bob Blackman (ex-UNITE National Officer), Jerry Hicks.
